Merlin Legend paging squeal with SLT

Quite some time ago this was an issue when trying to page on a Merlin Legend using an SLT...you usually ended up with squealling and/or horrific static. Avaya put out a tech bulletin that suggested putting resistance between on the paging line...and it would eliminate that squeal...does anyone remember this? If you do and you have the tech note please let me know or if you rmember the rating of resister and how it connected up...I would be friggin estactic!!!

Have sucessfully used a 185A Netork capacitor; which is a .15 uf capacitor in series with a 400 ohm resistor. Don't know if you can get them anymore. It seemed the cheaper switch hook on some SLT have an abnormal switch hook assembly that allowed the phone to remain offhook long enough to create a feedback, if that phone was close to a paging speaker. I placed the 185A across the paging T&R output of the amplifier which blocked the oscillation. The 185A network capacitor was used in merlin plus systems that experienced a loud squeal when two lines were conferenced together. Your other option would be a digital feedback eliminator.

Thanks Comdata...now I remember what it was!!! the 185A was exactly what it was!!! I am pretty sure if I check the work bench I have about a 5 or 6 in a box on the bottom shelf.

.15 microfared
