I have an older Merlin Legend system (not sure which release). I just installed a loudspeaker system for one of our zones. I used a Bogen TPU-35B and a couple horns to accomplish this, and it works great. I was wondering if its possible, either with existing equipment or otherwise, if we can page all phones (MLX-10DP) AND the loudspeaker simultaneously with 1 button? FYI, I'm a phone novice. Thanks in advance.

That would require that you upgrade the Legend Processor to Magix R2.2 or later.

It's doable if you do not have an old MERLIN style telephone sets.

In Magix 2.2 and later, you can assign 2 loudspeaker paging ports to each Paging Group.

If you want to sacrifice an MLX set, such as an MLX-5, you could connect the speaker in the phone to the input of the amplifier. The phone would be included in the 799 all page, and come out through the speakers.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Merlinman, do you recall anything about a new product for Magix, made by Starcom part #4405PAG, 8806-005 CC#700169220 that would allow simulataneous Ldspkr page and group paging? It was basically a 4406 set, using a 6 conductor flat cable that is enclosed with a built in 600 ohm transformer. The 1st pair goes to the controller, the 2th pair for audio and the 3rd pair for contact closure.

PIN Description Pair To
1 Start Lead 3 Paging System
2 Page Audio 2 Paging System
3 Ring 1 Magix TDL Port
4 Tip 1 Magix TDL Port
5 Page Audio 2 Paging System
6 Start Lead 3 Paging System

If an ext is assigned to paging group 793-798, or if Group Page All is activated, it will come over the telsets and overhead paging simulataneously. Can be connected to 412 or 024 TDL module. Here is the website:

You wouldn't need that from 2.2 onward, but WOW!, these Starcom guys make some cool stuff!!

Yes, I recall that.

I used to have a white paper (or a set of white papers) that was issued by our CUSTOM ENGINEERING group that documented all kinds of gizmos that they had designed and contracted out to various vendors. I think this was issued near the end of LEGEND.

One that comes to mind is the M-1010 Record/Monitor module, but the documents had a souped up version with more features. This could be used to do service observing and call recording.

But alas, I have lost so many hard drives over the years, I can not find this stuff. (and if it was a hard copy, it may never be found)

And, besides that, a lot these things were implemented into the later Magix systems, such as Simultaneous Paging, Service Observing and Call Recording.

The MacGyver method worked. Thanks so much, guys.
