I have just started a job that uses a Merlin Legend Release 2.0 system. I am fresh out of college and have nver had to deal with setting up or fixing phones. The system has been in use for some time, but there are a couple projects I would like to work on. On the phone the names of all the employees are on the system but there are names of people listed in the system directory that dont work here anymore. I would like to change the names in the system.
I have done some research and found that some people using the Merlin system use WinSPM which I cam guessing is a PC app for making adjustments on the phone system. I'm not sure where I could get a copy of WinSPM or even if it will work on such an old phone system.
Like I said I am new to pretty much everything outside of college IT work, so I would like to hook up with a pro that can help me through the little problems with the phones.
Have mercy.

You can get WinSPM at the Avaya.com website, under Support. Choose documentation, scroll down to Merlin Legend Communications system, choose all documents (where you will find all the documentation you need in PDF format - just make sure to change the Release to R2. You will also find "software" - that is, WinSPM. Download the R4 ton R5 upgrade - which is the full program and install it. You may need to get an 355AF adapter to hook up your PC to the processor admin port. Or you can connect via PC modem to an unused 012 Basic Telephone module port.

As for labelling - if you want to do it from the 20L - press menu, system programming, exit, more, labelling, directory, extentions, and enter the extention number, press enter - and use backspace to wipe out the incorrect name - and key in the correct name. If you pull out your desi cover and labels - the letters of the alphabet (not on the big screen) will be embossed in the plastic under the desi labels - just use them to type in your corrected info.
