Hello everyone. I have a customer that has a Merlin Legend system and the receptionist has an MLX28 phone. We installed a Plantronics CS540 wireless headset with a HL10 lifter, as she sometimes has to get up and bring things to the guys in the shop. The headset works fine at her desk but doesn't alert her in her ear on incoming calls. She can answer them though, because she hears her phone ringing when she is at her desk. The problem is, the reason for getting the headset is to not miss calls when she has to stroll out to the shop.
If you call from another MLX phone to her phone, the headset alerts her of the call. However, any incoming calls do not. The difference in the rings is on incoming calls there is that little beep after the ring to let you know it's an outside call. We tried all of the 8 personal ring patterns and none of them work to alert the headset. I tried to see if a transferred call would alert her and it does not, if it did, I was going to try to loop the 5 CO lines into tip and ring extensions and forward those extensions to the main receptionist phone.
Any ideas on how to change the incoming ring frequency or make the headset alert the customer?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Chad

I will answer this as it can apply to most phone systems, sounds like the mic is not plugged into the base of the headset and should be placed over the phone speaker which will give you the beep alert tone.

Actually, we have the mic plugged in. We tried it with and without, because the HL10 lifter has a built in microphone under the lifter itself and also an external one that you can plug in and place over a speaker if the speaker isn't located under the lifter, but the same result. The lifter alerts the headset on inside calls between extensions, but not on incoming calls. changed and tried all the different ring tones and same result.

So extension to extension calls do alert her headset but calls coming in from the outside do not alert her, has this ever worked? if not go to the Plantronics web site and make sure you in fact has purchased the correct headset

It's the ring cadence, and there's nothing you can do about it. We have the same problem with Partner sets.

Switch out the HL10 with an older HL1. It has a more sensitive ring detector.

I am going to try this. I found an HL1 for 19.99 online which included shipping. I will let you know if this works. I thought I was out of options.
