So I know this question has been mentioned before, but I'm in a real tough spot. We have two activations this week both Merlin Legend/Magix systems. I had to cancel the 1st attempt to activate on Cbeyond as the only "Switch Type" I could use that would allow me to make outgoing calls was Merlin Network. Generally this is only used for P2P T1's. I couldnt get incoming calls to route properly. They are using two digit extensions but it was working fine with the previous carriers. I'm expecting 4 digits, matching the 4 digits, deleting the 4 digits, and inserting the extension number. Any ideas of what else I can try. We've got plenty of customers with legend PBX that we'd like to move to Cbeyond.

Thanks!

Are they all using the same DS1 configuration @ the other locations? What type of service CBEY providing?

I have had experience with CBEY with a Legend. In Southern California, they are using Cisco 28xx IADs for their Beyond Voice service. They can emulate 5ESS with AT&T Custom ISDN PROTOCOL for PRI. If this is not the problem, please provide more information.

Last things first: Forget about the digit matching, routing and all that junk. If none of the digits match in length, dial plan or whatever, they will still land at the Operator console if the number dialed "points" to your circuit...no matter what. That alone will prove the inbound part.

For the outbound piece, you should never, ever have to set your switch for Merlin-Network. That's COMPLETELY insane.

Jim is right. The carrier MUST emulate the protocol correctly--and it is up to THEM to do so. If not, tell them "Sayonara".

I'd also like to recommend that you look up Jack Morgan's (Merlinman) posts about CBeyond and PRI service. Seems there are problems with software/firmware loads in Adtran IADs that must be corrected or updated. But if Jim is right in that Cisco is now their IAD provider, the point might be moot.

I have had a GREAT DEAL of experience with CBeyond.

They used to have a CUSTOM PACKAGE of software for the Legend/Magix called AT&T LEGEND.

Until, and unless we got that, their service just wouldn't work and we would spend HOUR after frustrating HOUR trying to get things the way they should be.

That being said, I haven't implemented a CBeyond PRI in a few years now. They seem to have fallen out of favor with Clients in this area.

Also, as you know and as others have said here, Merlin PBX/NETWORK settings just won't work in this situation.
