Next week (12/29-30) I'll be taking down our Merlin Legend/Magix phone system (w/Merlin Messaging) so that I can physically move the system to allow room for an add-on carrier. So, my first question is:

1) Is there a preferred sequence for powering down/up the cabinets? Maybe it doesn't matter but in case it does I want to minimize any 'harm' that can come from powering down/up. We've got two fully populated carriers right now.

The other questions are with regard to the add-on carrier:

1) Once I move the system should I re-patch all the extensions, etc. and re-power it to make sure everything works prior to installing the add-on carrier?
2) Or should I install the add-on carrier, along with the additional modules (2 - 016 MLX), and then power up? Again is the sequence important?

Power down the main carrier first, then the expansion carriers.
Power up the expansion carriers first, and main carrier last

Since this is part of a move, back it up to the PCMCIA card, power down (left to right), move the system to the new space.
Power up (right to left), do basic tests to make sure it is running again, power down (left to right)
Add the expansion carrier and cards, power up (right to left). Do a board renumber so the new cards are recognized, test, reconnect everything and do final testing.
