...the system administration and voice mail terminal? Intuity Audix and system administration are sharing the same p.c. and one of our field employees needs to add a new user, but I do not want them to reboot if it will affect the programming on the Legend. When I am on site, I usually use her MLX-20L set to program, but the field employee is more comfortable with the p.c. setup.

Also, why might the p.c. be locking up?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

To add a user, system does not need to reboot. If the PC is locking up, try this: when you select switch administration from the intuity screen, wait about 3 seconds before pressing any keys. Unfortuneately, if it locks up, you have to reboot the voice mail system. If the problem continues to be a hassle, administer the Legend separately from the Intuity using standard SPM or WinSPM on a separate computer.

When you first log in to the Intuity there is a setting I think under customer / services administration that is restart spm. This should always be performed on a reboot of the Audix to use SPM on the Intuity box. I have found it helps with lockups of the welcome to SPM press any key to continue screen.

Also, make DOUBLE TRIPLE sure, that the SPM cable is not faulty. Try a new cable. I have had some lock up, due to faulty cables

On some of the older Merlin/Audix connections, programming the switch from the audix terminal use to lock up the terminal. Avaya had a patch they needed to install to correct the problem. As a temporary solution, you could dial * 10 from any phone, knocking down the SPM connection.

Another useful tip -

When you are in Audix under switch administration and it locks up, hit [CTRL] "\" at the same time. This should take you out.

That is Control key plus Backslash at the same time.
