Hi,

I have two extensions that suddenly cannot dial out. They are both assigned to pool 70. I am unaware of any changes made to this system, and I am not very familiar with Merlin, so I am a bit stumped as to where to begin troubleshooting.

What I've done so far:

1. Verified that the extensions are programmed into the correct pool

2. Verified that there are no restrictions on outbound dialing

I am not very knowledgeable about what information is programmed into the extension in order to have it connect to the pool. Could this be an auth code issue? I'm not sure how to display what auth codes are in place now and this company has kept no records whatsoever of the programming.

Any assistance is appreciated.

To the best of your knowledge, were there any recent programing changes made [ponder] Did the system lose power [ponder]

When I've seen extensions all of a sudden unable to dial out, go and check "Forced Account Code", see if the extensions are assigned there, and if so, remove them. I don't know why, but when someone is programming and not sure exactly what they are doing, that gets changed by accident.

As far as I know no programming changes were made, nor did the system lose power. I know, it's very odd. I'll check the forced account code settings.

If it helps for troubleshooting, on the phone sets at the extension there is a pool button with a red led. Inspct shows that it is assigned to the correct pool. When the button is activated or the hand set picked up the red led goes off and no green led lights up.

As I usually recommend, do a PRINT of the extensions involved, then check LINE BY LINE in the report to see if it is Forced Account Code.

You can also see this if you do a PRINT of the EXTENSION DIRECTORY; FACE is shown as the 1st column at the top, and Extensions with that show "Y".

You could also post a print of the stations in question, if you want us to review them...
