I have a customer with a T1 (non-PRI) on a Merlin Legend release 5. The system has worked reasonably well for a number of years. Lately, they have been getting complaints that calls that are connected over the T1 are getting dropped right in the middle of a conversation. The system manager has reported that this has happened repeatedly (2-3 times within 15 minutes) to him as well, so I'm confident that it is not simply a user error. He has called his telco (Qwest) and asked them to check the T1 and they say it is fine (of course). What can I do to narrow down where the problem is occuring? Is there a way to trace problems in a Legend like you can on the IP Office Monitor?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Jered

In the maintenance menu, check the transient error log. You may have a clocking problem.

I would check all the error logs not just the transient log for anything related to DS1 alarms or conditions.

Also verify that the network connections to the Demarc or MPOE are in good shape and nothing is loose.

Hope this helps!

phonemom & Jim,

Thanks for the advice. I checked both the permanent and transient error logs, and they were both empty. I checked the error logs on the 100D card (in Slot 9, Vintage 5B, Firmware 90) and I found that there have been 01 MIS, and 02 SLP errors in the past hour. I have not been able to check the wiring yet to see if anything looks loose as the location is 2 hours away. Any other ideas that I can try remotely? I'm connected via WINSPM right now...
