I need some help. I am cutting over a voice T-1 to AT&T. I have a Merlin Legend Release 6 Version 11. My PBX vendor says that the Legend is compatabile with a 5E switch and AT&T is saying the legend is not compatible. Does anyone know for sure if it is or not?

Since AT&T and Legend came from the same place I'm surprised that AT&T said that!. Yes they are compatible, and have been for some time. The only time that the type of far end switch comes into play is in a PRI setup, and if so, sometimes can be a little tricky.

As long as the configuration of the T is the same (B8zS, ESF) it will work. The majority of the country has 5ess and I know of at least 2 of my customers that have T-1 to Merlin.

Also make sure that the central office protocol is set for ATT CUSTOM and NOT ATT National Protocol(aka NI 1)

the comment by guestworks is only applicable if it is a pri,
in other words using isdn signaling.
