I've read quite a few posts on caller ID for the Legend and was wondering what the lowest system version that can display caller ID is.

I have Legend 6, version 11.0 Hardware Vintage 00.

I know I'll need to grab some 408 GS/LS ID modules since mine aren't caller ID compatible and check the delay... but will my system support caller ID?

Thanks!

408 GS/LS-ID cards will work on R7 Legend only. You can get 800 GS/LS-ID cards that work on Legend R3 and above.

Ok, one more question... Can my CKE4 processor be upgraded to version 7? I was just told only CKE5 can be upgraded to 7 but I'm confused... I thought those were only Magix processors.

Yes CKE4 can be upgraded to an R7 without limitations.

It is the CKE3 that won't support MLX16 boards if it was flashed to an R7

Back again with more upgrading questions. As outlined in this thread:

unless you're a person that upgrades lots of phone systems, the Flashtools program is too expensive right now for a one-time use. So I'm now considering using a Magix processor card in my Merlin Legend.

I have a second expansion chassis, power supply and some 408 GS/LS ID cards along with the latest WinSPM to convert my backups so I feel fairly comfortable experimenting with an upgrade without tearing up my online system.

The thing I'm not clear on is whether there is a distinction between the firmware in a Magix processor I might pick up on ebay and the Merlin Legend 7.0 processors. If I buy a Magix processor (in a clamshell), will it work with my Merlin Legend backups (converted) or will I still need to flash the Magix processor over to Merlin firmware?

The Merlin Magix "firmware" replaced the Merlin Legend "firmware"
So Magix or Legend can be installed on both a CKE4 or CKE5.

The only difference between the CKE3 and CKE4 was on board memory which they added 64K to the CKE4 - primarily for the double density 016ETR and 016MLX mods - but that only becomes a problem w/ the CKE3 if you have a full 2 or 3 cabinet config depending on the mods for the 2 cabinet config.

The CKE5 added another 64K memory - again primarily for large system configs - 3 cabinets.

You can upgrade CKE3 up to Magix R4.0 in a single cabinet config and it runs fine - CKE4 to magix R4.0 is touch and go up to the 2nd cabinet and sometimes even a 3rd cab if the config isn't to tasking on the processor.

The newer the version legend (up to V7), or Magix (R1-R4), the more features you get, the only downside to magix, it doesn't support any ATL cards (408 GS/LS, 008, etc).
But the addition of
"group ring"
and
"auto daylight savings time clock setting(customisable)"
are nice.
