There was a specific autoattendant for the Merlin II system that was made by AT&T. It had fairly minimal capabilities - and any "used" one you can find will probably need to have the rechargeable battery inside replaced. If you need a more sophisticated autoattendant or multiple autoattendants - I would look into a used Merlin Mail standalone unit. If you can get a Release 3.05 system - they are y2k compliant as well. I assume these will work with a Merlin II. If not, then pick up a used Legend processor - which can be had for under $50 on eBay.
The client has the Merlin II console phone and ATL sets.
Would they have to purchase a new console phone for a Legend and what version Legend stops recognizing ATL sets?
The ATL console can be used on a Legend - but it's programming capability will not work. You will need to pick up at least one 408 or 008 MLX module and a Merlin Legend 20L telephone - if they want to do programming through an operator phone. The other option for programming is using WinSPM. The last release for the Legend processor was R7.0, V14.2 - which can still utilize all of the existing ATL modules and phones. Only the Magix version of the processor software cannot recognize ATL modules and sets. You can buy a "used CKE3 or CKE4 processor. The CKE4 would be better (still around $50).
I just don't know if you can program ALL of the many buttons on the Merlin II console - because I have never tried to. In essence, the Merlin II console would be like a big DSS (Digital Station Selector) unit in "Merlin Legend speak". Or, you can buy a used DSS to go with the MLX-20L operator phone as an alternative.
