Merlin II dropping calls

I have a client with a Merlin II system that is intermittently having problems.

I am looking for an opinion as to whether the problem is the processor or the line cards.

The system (a)drops calls randomly, (b)sometimes when a caller calls in he cannot hear the person speaking even though the person who answered can hear fine, (c)when a caller dials the main number the line just rings and the system does not show a call coming in.

Any ideas?

What results do you have with an "AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM" test with a BUTT Set?
 
I am with Merlinman, with the symptoms you are describing, it is best to test out the lines with a butt set to eliminate service provider issues. If the lines test out fine before the system, then I would have the customer start tracking which line they are talking on when the call drops/can't hear the caller, etc. That way you can start to determine which line ports are giving issues.
 
My first question would be, Is this happening an all phones and lines? We have had customers claim that it was when it was simply a matter of a tired old phone that desperately needed refurbishing.
