We acquired a Merlin II rel 3 system with BIS-34D phones.

If "Cindy" answers a call, "Dave" can answer it a split second after her not knowing "Cindy" has already picked up and talk over her saying "hello". Disaster!

On the old system if "Dave" answered the phone and "Cindy" had already picked up, "Dave" would be switched to a different line and not interrupt "Cindy" answering the call. "Dave" would then know the call had been answered by "Cindy" and then hang up.

How can we program the system or phones to achieve this?

Thanks,

Robert

We have 4 lines (numbers), all with phone company rollover. (if that is of any significance)

Program a "Privacy" button on each phone. This will prevent the second person from accessing a call-in-progress. Slide the switch on left side to "P", press any button not already assigned, dial *72, slide the switch back to center. The new privacy button must then be pressed to activate privacy (the LED will be on when active). Note that any time there is a power failure and the system reboots, the privacy button will need to be pressed once again to activate.
