Has anybody had any issues with "HOLD" on a MLX-10D. I have a Merlin Legend 7.0 and for some reason I have to press "HOLD" twice to place a call on hold. This affects internal and external calls system wide. This just started in the last week or so. According to the manual "HOLD" is just "HOLD" nothing fancy. The only thing I can think of is to power down the system then power it back up.
Any ideas?? I’ll re-post next week concerning the results of the power cycle.

THX!!

Try 1) using another phone 2) using another port on a different card. You should only have to press once. If neither works, restart the system, (Turn on cabinets from right to left)

Tried all of the above, I even tried another system in our test bed, same result. There has to be something inherent with the Merlin itself. If I place a call externally or even incoming and place it on hold I have to press hold twice. If I do the same procedure and give it about 5 seconds after the call connects it works fine. Anything less and it won’t work. Guess I’ll have to tell the receptionist to slow down.

Does this only happen at the operator console? Is the console setup as a DLC or QCC? If DLC, check under

Operator
DLC Hold

to see if auto hold is enabled. If it is disable it and see if that speeds up the process. Just a shot in the dark.

Tried it disabled and enabled. We have to wait at least 3 to 5 seconds before we press the hold button. Since we started that, there haven't been any more issues. It would still be nice to speed it up a second or 2.

I have same problem on non-operator stations. Cannot place a call on hold until a couple of seconds after the call connects. While annoying, I assumed this was normal Merlin behavior.

Release 7.0 Key mode - on MLX or ATL sets.

It is actually normal Merlin behaviour. You can't put a dial tone on hold, or the 1004Hz test tone either. You must wait until a call actually connects and there is some type of voice activity before hold will work. The receptionist needs to slow down a bit if she is answering and trying to put calls on hold that fast.

It doesn't detect the voice activity. Its an end-of-dial timer. To bypass, dial a number then hit #. From that point, you can place on hold. I've never tried just hitting #, but in theory it would work.

Hope this helps...
