I'm working on a Merlin r6.1 and am trying to get the DID's up. When we moved we had to change area codes and the DID range. The old range was 5700-5799, the new range is now 3500-3599. I've already renumbered all the extensions in the 3500 range, but I can't figure out where to go to get the DID's working.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

thx,

Ian

what are the DID's coming in Over. PRI, DID trunks etc...

Is the CO sending the same number of digits and signaling (wink/wink),TouchTone, etc. Is it possible, with the re-install, the tip and ring of the trunks got reversed (DID trunks are polarity sensitive).

If you have a butt set go across each pair and go off-hook, you should hear a 'click' (wink), dial one of your extensions using the appropriate number of digits, TT or rotary, etc. Does the station ring? If so, try reversing thr T&R's of the trunks and see if you can dial in now.

One final thought, after the move, did anyone call the CO and tell them to 'release' the new trunks. Typically the CO will keep DID trunks busied out until they are called to release them.

The DID are coming over a non-PRI T-1. The carrier indicated to me that they've released everything...

The LEC is sending four digits.

The LEC will usually turn up the DID trunks with you, did they? That way they would see if the tip/Ring is reversed. If that hasn't happened, are you sure the DID trunks are working?
Another test you can do is use a but-set, put it on a DID trunk at the demarc. You will not hear dial tone, but if you enter a valid did ext, it will ring in. Just be sure wether or not you have touch tone or rotary DID trunks.

Turns out Verizon hadn't released the DID's correctly.

Thanks all for their help.

If your T-1 is set up as Tie lines, and is able to make outside calls, and you have an extension that matches the DID, you'll get it. The is nothing for you to do. If the digits come in, and there is no "home" for them, they will ring at the console. If none of this is happening, then Telco is wrong. The important question is what happens when the DID's are dialed now?
