Problems w/outgoing calls: Pickup phone, press line button, have red light for line - do not get dial tone, the it takes about 6 to 8 seconds to get the green light on the phone, can hear a slight click and very low static - like we connected to something.

Merlin Magix CPU and VM w/Legend carrier and modules. Sys has 24 Telco Ports, about 50 phones. We wanted to setup a new Telco POTS line as a private line directly to one phone, but had no available ports. We took an existing port and disconnected it from T1 channel bank and connected it to new POTS line. We took that LID (818) out of group 70 and assiged it to the particular extension (64). We set ring to immediate, setup voice mail mailbox, assigned automatic line selection.

Incoming calls were not ringing, but eventually found that Verizon was not giving us ring signal. Outgoing calls were working fine last week (I think). Verizon fixed the ring problem and now incoming calls are fine. As above - pickup phone and select line - takes about 6 - 8 seconds to get green led, but no dial tone. Butt set in parallel with telco line port - can get dial tone ok. Powered off system and replaced module. 1st try after repowering system it worked fine, but could not get it to work again. Was working last week when we first programmed it. Re-checked all programing - replaced phone, tried assigning line to another extension - same problem.

????? Any ideas ????

Are they ground-start lines? If so, you need to change them from the default setting of loop-start to ground start.

No, loop start lines. Line starts ok with ordinary phone and the butt set. Also - previous experience on Legend systems where we had a dead telco line.... You get dial tone at the phone (generated by the phone system) and dialed the number but it never connects - as the telco line is dead or disconnected.

So in this case we never hear the dial tone and long delay to get green light on the line - seems to be a programming issue ???

Also checked the module and made sure all lines on the module were set to loop start.

Have you checked the processor error log for clues? Especially regarding the module slot(s) with the line card(s)?

It could be a wiring problem. Have you checked the wiring with a testset all the way to the modular plug at the Legend module? You could have an intermittent connection or loose termination somewhere.

Hope this helps!
