I have been asked to tie a merlin Legend with a Dukane paging/intercom system. The Dukane is used in schools to tie all rooms and facilities together. It has the cabability of recieving and making off site phone calls, but I have very limited info and knowledge on this. I believe that I would tie in an analog extension off the Merlin and that a feature/trunk access/dial code would be dialed off the Dukane to access the Merlin and dial tone--and the same to access an extension in the Dukane.

I sure would appreciate any input and knowledge/tips if anyone has any or similar experience or even ideas.

Thanks

We acquired several Valcom V-1020C amplified Ceiling Speakers. I have one of the units connected to a trunk port (805) on my Merlin Legend. I programmed the trunk port for a “Loud Speaker”. Now the only way I can page with that set up is if I program a button for that trunk or do a line pickup (#9+ext or trunk). This is not really practical. I also noticed if I put the trunk in to a pool, I am able to dial the pool and get connected to the speaker. The only problem is there is an 8 second delay before it connects.

The other thing I tried was to mutilate a MLX-5 phone and taped off of the speaker. This works but still not practical.

any suggestions ? :)

The legend uses a trunk port for paging, but you need to use a Universal Paging Access Module (UPAM) or a Page-Pal to inferface from the trunk port to the amplifier or self amplified speakers. Basically, it provides talk-battery back to the Legend, and matches the impeadance from the trunk to the amplifier.

Yes, you need to program the trunk as loudspeaker paging, and uyes, you use a "pickup line 8XX" button to access the paging.

If you put the line in a pool, the Legend thinks that the line will become part of ARS, so it won't work properly.

if you use the UPAM ,you can add a anlog station to it instead of the co port ,then you just call the station # to access the paging, you have different options with a UPAM
