My customer bought a used Merlin 820 (3 pair configuration) and they can only intercom to the first extension. All the lights are lighting on the phones but it is only audible at the one extension ... why? How doI get the others to beep?

It sounds like you answered your own question. In order for voice intercom and station paging to operate, you need to use all four wire pairs.

This is true for all "breadbox" Merlins (410, 820, 820D2, 1030, 3070, blah blah).

Use network patch cords and a couple of phones right at the unit and prove it to yourself.

dagwoodsystems is correct & if I remember correctly it it the white brown pair that is needed.
