Is there any way with a Merlin 410, Feature Package 1, to transfer an outside call to another outside line without tying up 2 lines? Example: A call comes into the office and it needs to be transferred to another office at a different local. As I see it, they can hit "Conference", then select another line and dial the number of the other office. Problem is that the original person who received and transferred the call cannot hang up, so both lines are used until the call is completed.I know that the original person can put the line on hold, but this still ties up 2 lines. Is there another way besides using "Conference?

Yes, if your lines are configured in a CENTREX class of service from the LEC or CLEC service provider, there is a feature using 3-way calling that allows calls to be transferred to another number and release the line for another call without using two lines. The second option is a feature called "CALL TRANSFER DISCONNECT", it is the same feature that Centrex offers, but offered by Pacific Bell on a per line basis in California in 5ESS and DMS switches on business lines only, the last time I checked the tariff.

I don't know if others are offering this feature in their switches or equivalent, but one would think that this would be a "NO BRAINER" in this day and age! But unfortunately most providers are brainless in this day and age!!!
