Over the last year or so, every time there is a power loss, the programming on my merlin 1030 system is lost. I then need to re-program lines & extensions. There must be a backup battery, right? Have had the system for almost 20years and never had this problem until about a year ago. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I always advise that if you want to really get rid of this problem, upgrade your switch to LEGEND hardware.

There's lots of it out there. I would use an R7 Processor.

Who knows, once you do that, you may want to do as one of my clients did in a similar situation and get voice mail as well.

I have had this problem on the same system. I would have to go to site and reprogram system about 3 times in one wwek. I finally got the customer an uninterruptable power supply on the system and reprogrammed it one final time. I have not heard from this customer in 2 years now. This is a bandaid and I would suggest replacing the internal battery as ttech was talking about. Good Luck...

I still use a Merlin 1030 at home (wife like's the BIS-style phones) - and it works just fine. In 22 years I have had to replace the CPU back-up battery only ONCE - which immediately fixed the loss of programming issue - whenver there was even a slight power loss to the system. The battery costs about $20 and is readily available. There are only two soldering connections (the + and -) - so it is really not a big deal to replace it - even for a clumsy solderer like me. It should last you another 10 years or so. - or do what Merlinman suggests - switch to a Legend - and you can still keep your BIS-style phones with an ATL module.
