A Merlin 1030 with Feature Card 4.0 had a power failure and lost its programming. The 8 line x 6 station system was set up for Pool lines on two buttons (not "Square" with a line on each button).

Before the power outage, everyone could dial out without dialing 9 first. Now, only extension 10 (not set up as attendant) can dial out without dialing 9. Everyone else has to dial 9 first.

I tried changing button "G" to "Button access", from "Dialup access", but nothing changed, so I set button "G" back on "Dialup Access".

(should I have turned power off and back on after changing button "G" to "Button Access"?) or-
(might ext 10 have ARS turned on, and the others need ARS turned on? -how do you turn ARS on?)

Does anyone know how I might restore the ability to dial out on the Pool lines all extensions withpout dialing "9" first?

The pool has to be assigned to a button, then set up auto line selection to pick the pool button first.

To prevent future losses of programming - every time you have a minor power fluctuation or power failure - you need to replace the CMOS battery on the Feature Module. They only last about three years or so.

I'll replace the battery, thanks!

The pool lines are alraedey assigned to the two buttons above the intercoms. They work fine, however, they have to dial 9 first. This is what they want to change- no 9 first.

Make sure switch "G" is in the "down" position for "Button Access" to line pools vs. up for "Dial Acess" to line pools. If it is "UP" - then dialing a 9 is required to get to the main pool, or 890 or 891, etc for any other pools you have set up.

And, yes - you have to restart the system for the programming to take (when you change switch positions). If you had ARS programmed before - who knows - because it is all gone now with the power failure. So, if you want two simple pools, put switcg G down for button access and put a few lines into the second pool - by default they all go to the first button. Unfortunately, you will also have to start from scratch - each time you power up/down or have a power outtage - because your back-up battery is dead. That battery has to be soldered to the board - hopefully that's not a problem for you.
