Hi. I work at a CO, and we have a customer with a Nortel Meridian. The problem is that only one call can be active on the entire PRI at a time (configured 23B and 1D, NI2). If you call into the system from the outside and there is an active call, then a cause code 18 is returned for release. If you call into the system from the outside and there is no active call, then the call processes fine. If a call out from the PBX is attempted with one call up, then there is no D channel messaging at all sent. A call out with no active calls results in a good call.

Unfortunately, the PBX vendor refuses to believe that this is his issue, despite the fact that a CPE tech can replace the PBX with his TTC test box, and have two active calls up. In the CO, we've rebuilt the translations, moved hardware twice, and still the problem persists.

Sadly, I can give no further information on the PBX other than what our CPE tech read, which is Nortel Meridian. Any thoughts? The customer believes the PBX vendor, and short of resetting the PBX, which we really don't want to do, we are out of ideas.

Thanks!

Hi,

To start, request from the vendor the following:
1. ADAN DCH and CEQU printout from LD 22
2. RDB and LTM printout from LD 21
3. STAT printout from LD 60

Then, post it here. It should at least give us an idea of the settings.

Good luck.

I'm forwarding it on to the vendor now. Thanks, and with luck, I'll have real data for you.

Thank you March71. I didn't get the vendor to respond to my queries, but oddly enough, the problem was fixed within 10 minutes of them getting the email with your questions. Many thanks, problem was resolved, but the exact method is unknown.

its been a while since i logged-in here...

glad it worked out for you!

the tech probably only built 1 B channel on teh pbx side to test and forgot to build the other 22, so when you sent him the questionaire ...the rest is history...

Thought it was only the CO guys that did those sorts of things............
