Hello all, been trying to get into our system via modem and am having some issues. I think these issues are on the dialing end as the modem connected to the switch has been dialed into before without issue. Been scrounging around on here and see that I may need to have terminal emulation set to VT102 however my modem only has options for VT52/ANSI/VT100 and some others. Anyway, the modem picks up and after entering the password I am greated with “Ok, You are now transparent to port 1”. But that is as far as I get. Tried entering logi then the pass, logi enter then the pass but never get a response. Anyone have any advice for this issue? Thank you!

what type of modem are you using?? sounds like you have a secure modem as you logged in to it, you probably need to google the type of modem in use. I bet it has more than one port so you'll need to know the key combination to pass through to the correct port to then connect to the switch

ounds like an SEB Modem if yo are getting the Transparent to Host 1. My guess is there is an issue with the TTY port connected to the modem.

I'm with KCFLHRC. If a large system, maybe it's on the inactive Core. Just let it sit to see if you get any output. If not, the TTY is not working right.

You might also need a null modem adapter fitted at the system end, but this depends on how the modem port was configured.

Man, I just looked back at my spelling. Must have been a bad day.

Your spelling KCFLHRC is nothing compared to my oversight! Problem ended up being I had the cable attached to port 2... BOOO. Thank you all for your insights!

school boy error :) :)
