Hello!

We have a Meridian Max 8.71 (SNN Platform) and we want to change the hard disk, which is of 1GB currently. There have been some read/write warnings and also it's pretty small for our application.

Our vendor says it´s only possible to change the disk for one of the same capacity without changing other parts of the Meridian Max.

Other provider says it's possible to change it for a 2GB disk in the same conditions.

So far to this point we don´t know who's to believe. I want your opinion on this topic.

Thanks in Advance,

Jaime Gutiérrez

As long as you use the ORIGINAL install and data tapes, you can go ahead and change the hard drive, so long as the hard drive has a larger capacity than the old. I would make sure that at least 3 backups are done before starting. By having the original install tapes which contains the key codes which will match your pbx serial number, you are essentially doing a new installation with the new hard drive. If you have the Max books, follow the "new install" procedures with a fine tooth comb and it's very important that you read all notes as you go along. Once the hard drive is installed and working, go back and reload the backup. Good luck.

Thanks,

I´ll tell you how it goes when the disk gets here.

Hi,

We finally installed the new 2GB disk. Everything went smoothly. Thank you for your response and hope this helps anybody else.

So far I got a question: The disk partition is self defined in the installation procedure (as we had an 1GB disk) but we need to allocate a bigger DB. Is there any way to modify this setup to use that space?

Thanks,

Jaimegu
