Could anyone tell me what the "left pad" prompt in Meridian Mail Voice Services Admin/Thru-Dial Definitions is used for?

It is used to append digits to your thru dials. As in lets say all your internal extensions start with a 3 (IE: 3xxx) and you have an auto attendant. As in when you dial the main number for your business it is directed to your mail and is answered by a Voice Menu (IE: Thank you for calling XXXXX press 1 for sales, 2 for parts, 4 for Billing and if you know your parties extension enter it now). You would build the menu to point to your thru dial that has a left pad of "3" and 4 digit dn length (variable). This way they press 3 for the menu choice and then your thru dial is sent the left pad of 3 already. So they don't have to enter 3 for thru dial then enter 3xxx for the extension, it is a seemless transition to the user. Hope this helps
