Yesterday, users were having trouble logging into get their voice mail, so I ended up cold booting our Meridian Mail card, which screwed everything up until this morning. This morning, I shut the power off on the Merdian card, waited a couple of minutes, unseated it, reseated it, then turned it back on. It finally booted correctly and allowed people to log back into voice mail, I thought I was set....

However, now people cannot receive new voice mail. They can retrive any old messages, but they get no notice of a new message, regardless if they have a 500 or 2500 type phone. Even when they log into voice mail and browse it will not list any new messages.

When I STAT my AML, I get the following:
AML: 09 ESDI: 09
LYR2: CONNECTED LYR7: ACTIVE EMPTY

This STAT is better then yesterday when everyting was disconnected.

Can anyone out there help me?

Thank you!

you're aml look right, what do your agents look like?.. and check your voice service dn table for corruption.. my 1st thought would be a reload of software, if you have a partial backup you can restore users, if you only have a full, it's bad.. the full backup tape formats the hd, then installs the os from the backup tape.. if the corrupt os is on your back up tape, then install off of the install tape, enter key codes and like nortel says "how fast can you type"

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by "you're aml look right, what do your agents look like"?. I am not very familiar with this system.

Thanks.

you have channels in the voice mail that are built as acd agents, prt the dn of you mail forward to number, stat those tn's...what type of switch do you have? and yes it should have been looks as opposed to look...those agents should look like this:
REQ: stat 51 0 1
00 = UNIT 00 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )
01 = UNIT 01 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )
02 = UNIT 02 = BUSY (BCS LOG IN )
03 = UNIT 03 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )
04 = UNIT 04 = BUSY (BCS LOG IN )
05 = UNIT 05 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )
06 = UNIT 06 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )
07 = UNIT 07 = IDLE (BCS LOG IN )

my interface card is in pos 51

Well, the problem is fixed, but I still have no idea how it happened. I powered off the mail, powered down both cabinets, unseated every card, waited a few minutes for luck, reseated everything and brought it back up. It works fine now, and at least I didn't have to reload anything.

Thanks for the help.
