Hi,

To administrate our Meridian Mail we dial into the system on a V220. Last week our Modem blew up caused by a power surge.

I have got a new US Robotics Modem to replace the old one, but when it is all connected up it dials up Ok and the modem answers and connects to Mail, but where we used to hold 'CTRL' and 'R' to bring up the Mail menu, it stops doing anything.

The Modem is a 56k External Fax Modem.

Please help!!

Try this
1. There are (8) dip switches on the rear of the modem. Set switches S1, S3, S7, & S8 in the down
position, the rest in the up position.

2. Connect the modem to a terminal or personal computer using a 25 pin RS232 cable.

3. Set the terminal or personal computer serial port to (mer mail) baud rate (8 data bits / no parity / 1 stop bit).

4. Turn the power ON to the modem.

5. Using the terminal or the terminal portion of the personal computer communications package, issue the following AT command. AT&B1&W&W1

6. Turn the power OFF to the modem, and disconnect it from the terminal or personal computer.

7. Set the (8) dip switches on the rear of the modem as follows. Set switches S1, & S4 in the down position the rest in the up position.

8. Connect the modem to the Meridian 1 or Mail system as instructed in the NTPs.

9. Turn the power ON to the modem.

Its an Option 11. Sorry it has taken ages to get back to you. I have been on holiday!

I tried Hawks instructions but I keep getting No Carrier. The Modem answers when you dial it from a phone though.

FOR OPTION 11 TRY THIS ONE
