I have an Option 81 rls 23.37 with a dead Meridian Mail EC-40 rls 12.11. Is the Meridian Mail EC-40 married to the 81 system ID or can I swap the mail hardware with another Meridian Mail EC-40 and go on?

I think you can swap the hardware because the serial number is not matched like Option 11's do. Maybe just one componet is dead and your just have to replace that.
