I have a VP who reports that he can use call sender to call someone back from VM and then on the next message it doesn't work. He's tried it from different phones and some calls are internal while others are from outside the system. He also said that the message had a valid number. Very little other info has filtered down to those of us who are expected to solve the problem before it happened, but I was hoping that someone might know where to start looking. I have already checked to make sure his box isn't full.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

We had a similar issue, and it had to do with multiple extensions and CDP.

For example, a set has DN 1000 on Key 0, and a second line, for a short hunt, of DN 8000 on Key 1. A caller calls the VP from Key 1 and leaves a message. If you have 8000 in the DN table for the mailbox at 1000, the message will be left using 1000's Personal Identification. If the VP tries to reply, the actual message came from DN 8000, and that may not be a routeable DN. The other issue is 8000 might be another DN on the switch that has VM, so the calls goes to the incorrect DN.

I am not sure if this makes sense, but we really went rounds and rounds with this.

If you do nto have multiple PBX's, then that is a horse of a different color, and I only work with red horses.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Scott, I'll look into these possibilities. We do have an 81c as the center of the network with 11c's and a couple norstars and one bcm. Most of the time he's complaining about LD numbers but has mentioned failures on extensions as well.

Is your outbound dialing set up to allow these calls? One other place to look is in your restriction/permission tables, and the actual PBX programming for the vmail ports. I set mine up so that BARS/NARS will not allow a LD call, even if the permission tables were changed in VM to allow it.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.
