26. CHANGING THE TIME IN THE SYSTEM:
Occasionally, there may come a time when the system clock may not be accurate. This could be due to Daylight Savings Time changes or just straying by a couple of minutes. For this change, we need to be in LD 2. I recommend you call a local time number in your time zone to accurately program the correct time into the system. For our example, we will use July 6, 2001 2:30 PM as the time told to us at the time of the beep verses the actual time the system gave us.
Check the time in the Meridian system against the time source you are calling. In LD 2, at the (.), type TTAD. As soon as you hit the “D”, the system will give you the time from that instant. I recommend you wait and hit the “D” as you hear the beep from the time source you have called. See the example below.
.TTAD FRI 06 07 2001 14 27 50
The way this reads is Day of Week/Day/Month/Year/Hour/Minute/Second. According to the Meridian system, this reading was taken on Friday the 6th of July 2001 at 2:27 PM and 50 seconds. The time is entered in a 24-hour format otherwise known as Military Time.
In this example, the Meridian system is about 2 minutes and 10 seconds slow. To change the time, while still listening to the correct time from your time source, you would type STAD the Day the Month the Year the Hour the Minute and the Second we will use at the correct time. For our example, we will type STAD 06 07 2001 14 31 00. Do not hit the Enter key until you hear the beep matching the time of the time source with the time you entered. See the example below.
.STAD 06 07 2001 14 31 00
While still listening to the correct time source, type TTAD, but hold off on the “D” until the beep. You should now match the time source you called. See the example below.
.TTAD FRI 06 07 2001 14 31 10
Congratulations. You just successfully reset your Meridian system’s time. Most Meridian systems will automatically adjust its time settings for Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time, but there are those few that need to be changed manually. An additional note about time changes; it may take a few minutes for the system to send the updated time to all of the telesets. If you unplug a set and re-plug it back in the teleset, the correct time will be displayed immediately. Otherwise just be patient and give the system about 5 minutes or so to update the telesets automatically.
