Does anyone out there currently use HP Openview for network management? Is it possible to have Openview monitor our PBX's as well? Any ideas, let me know.

thanks

The answer to your question is yes, however it is not very effective if you are not proficient at HPOV. All of the Meridian traps come in under 1 OID. Therefore, you need a little Perl script running to decipher the traps, clasify them, and parse out the garbage. The Meridian can be somewhat managed to filter what it sends, but you are better off sending everythin until you get a handle on it them cutting it back.

Another alternative is to run a proxy on a server attached to the TTY port and parse the ERR's BUG's etc at that level similar to the SEB Modem you probably have on the switch from your vendor.
