Im trying to merge two clips of the same scene which has an actor walking on scene then talking to himself. The only way i have found to do this is by overlapping the two clips on different timelines then lowering the opacity but this makes both characters translucent. Can anyone help me?

Is the camera taking exactly the same shot in both clips and is the actor separated in position throughout?

If so, can you use a garbage matte to isolate part of the overlay clip showing the actor so that it looks like you have two people talking to each other?

If not, you may have to key or mask out the background from the overlay clip, which is a serious task and not well suited to being done in Premiere.
