I have created an isolated environment to test server recovery in the event of a disaster, which basically consists of a DC and a Brghtstor server. I am trying to merge tapes from the live environment into the test one at the moment. The merge job runs and completes successfully but when I try to view the restore sessions it says 'No matching sessions were found'. I've tried merging a single session and get the same result.

I am using Win 2K3 R2 SP2 and BAB r12.5

Anyone know what is going wrong?

OK, I've figured out the issue but it has now thrown up another problem. The issue was down to the fact the Restore session screen automatically creates a filter to show only the last 14 days sessions and because these tapes were from last month the detail was not available until I modified the filter.

I have now restored the Root OS drive from the backup to a different server sucessfully and am trying to do the System State. Does any one know what path I should use as the source? The Root OS drive was \\Newserver\c$. I have tried \\Newserver\System State but even though the agent is installed it fails as it is looking for a share with that name.

Cheers

Previous post should say 'path I should use as the destination' not source.

check out the Admin Guide, especially page 278 on Recover the Active Directory.

Figured it out in the end. You can't specify it as a path, I had to rename the server the same as the old one and then chose the restore to original location.
