Merging mails problem

I'd like to merge the mail archives: a_ksmith1.nsf, a_ksmisth2.nsf, a_ksmith3.nsf into one file.

The mail acrchives run between 800mb - 950mb and have been updated from an older r4.6/r5 DB format to the newer r6 DB format, I'm wondering what consolidation options exist.

The two ways I'm aware of are:
1.) open archive in client, export mail archives to text file and re-import to newer archive (losing any attachments)
2.) open multiple archives in client, copy and paste dated archive mail into newest archive

above options are very prone to freezing and crashing, and is rather time consuming.. Is their another way?

You could create a simple agent that

1) copies selected mail to target mail file
2) removes selected mail from database

That way, every mail you select will be individually copied and deleted. Thus, if there is a crash, all documents that have been effectively copied will not need to be copied again.
Besides, this way there will be less risk of crashing, and you'll get the entire mail with attachments.

Pascal.

Thank you,

I am just presenting the solution to my boss. Could you provide me an example on how this could be done.

Create a new agent in the database.
Choose Simple Action (default value anyway).
Click on Add Action button.
Choose Copy Document to Database, and use the pop-up window to choose the db.
Click Add Action again, and choose Remove Document from Database.
Save agent.

Pascal.
