Merging gif files

I typed a document in an Urdu Text Editor. This Editor (Inpage Urdu) has an Export Page option that saves the document as a .gif file. Problem is that the editor makes one gif file per page. I have a file with 11 pages.

I created a new document and made its height as 297*11=3267. But I got the error message that maximum allowed size is 1143mm. So I had to make 4 gif files (thru copy paste).

Now what I need to do is to merge these 4 gif files into one single gif file.

I think it depends on your PPI (i.e. the restriction is in number of pixels)

PSCS will do that height in mm at 300ppi (I just tested it and it said "older versions of PS will not be able to deal with it" (or something to that affect... heh).

The more important question is "What the heck do you need a file of that type and dimension for???"

Whatever you are trying to do, I am sure you are going about it in the wrong way.

If you could let us know what you are working on it will be easier to give advice.

Also it's a good idea to tell us what software version and operating system you are using.

Silly question... what is the reason for saving the file in a gif format?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

it's a good idea to tell us what software version and operating system you are using.

I am using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and OS is Windows 2000.

The reason for converting my document to a gif file is that I have typed quotes from an Urdu book and want to share them with my friends.

Many friends of mine don't have Urdu Text Editor installed. So they won't be able to open the file.

For this, I used the editor option of converting its document to gif file.

But converting one document to four gif files will not create the impact that a single gif file can do. It is likely that my presentation will lose its attraction.

That's the reason I wanted to merge the gif files if it is possible.

I hate to say it... but if it's only text and you only want to email it to your mates, you should have just made a MS Word document. (or even Windows WordPad if you don't have Word).

(or use one of the many free text programmes on the web that can create Word compatible documents).

Word is called Word and Photoshop is called Photoshop for a reason.
