I'm relatively new to Lotus Notes, and I need to figure out how to merge one user's address book with many other users' address books. I don't even know where to start except it has something to do with replication. Can anyone help me?
Why do you want to merge User's address books? The Notes address book for your domain should already have everyone on your system in it, with their current Notes addresses. The usual objective with User's address books is to migrate their address books from a previous email client (Netscape, Outlook) into their Notes personal address book.
I suppose I should have been more specific. I've got a user here who wants his personal address book to merge with others' in order to share his contacts. Basically, he wants a bunch of other users to have every contact he has in his address book. (Incidentally, he also wants this to be as automated as possible - whether or not that happens is up to me, but first things first...)
What we did in a similar situation was to create an HTML page with a list of names and addresses and/or URL's, and just bookmark that in people's desktops - basically, create it as part of an intranet page.
Unfortunately, Notes is designed so the System address book has only internal Notes addresses, and the Personal address books are designed to be private, not shared.
The Intranet page, with listings of contact names, and 'mailto' addresses embedded, should work. Good luck!
Replicate his address book out to the server and then have him modify the ACL for whomever he wants to let use it. As he makes changes locally he can update the server copy with just a click and keep everybody up to date. Those people that he selects can just add the address book to their desktop an duse it like any other. Gamesman

Thanks for both the informative replies. I do believe I'm going to follow Gamesman's advice in this case, although Fred's suggestion might be considered for the future. Now... let's see if I know anything about how to actually accomplish this...
I like Gamesman's solution a lot - our Lotus Admin's do not provide much support or creative guidance here. I'll give that one a try myself - have a couple of clients who could make good use of it.
