I want to learn the mercator Tool. Where can I find the documentation for the same. Moreover I would like to know if there any sites where in you can get hands experience on mercator tool

I want to clarify this tool... Is this the Mercator translation software that used to be a TSI International product?

Looking through the rest of the user group, I realized that this was indeed the translation software Mercator. I've been using Mercator since 1985 and still don't know all there is to it, but I'll try to help as much as possible.

As far as information, the Help - Contents information is probably your best bet. TSI International, the original creators of Mercator are no longer supporting that software, so those of us that insist on using it are basically on our own.

Once you get the hang of it, or the basics, it's not very difficult. I tried teaching myself, and it took a few months before it clicked. Once I figured out the concept, the rest was a piece of cake.

TSI became Mercator. They support the tool fully.There is a tutorial supplied with the product along with online manuals. This is the place to start. Mercator offer various courses also.

We used to be able to purchase Mercator Runtime Execution Engines just to run the compiled maps. What is the equivalent of that with Ascential today?

DataStage TX = old command server with various adapters
DataStage TXEE = Event Server
DataStage TX DK = SDK - JAVA & Platform APIs, run maps from withing your JAVA or C code etc.
