Yes.... but you may have problems with eventserver starting and stopping correctly for certain systems as sometimes ports aren't released properly. Doesn't seem like its a TX issue though. It's seems more like how VM ware operating system and main operating system communicate.
Haven't tried this yet but our tech services area thought we might be able to install an addition NIC on the physical network server and dedicate it to the TX VM machine.
we looked at moving our TX from a physical box to a VM but, for now decided other fish to fry.
Also, unless you have monster hardware, TX can be a bit of a resource hog. Loading down the hardware with VM and other processes won't help performance.

Boca, to answer your question from your first post, they are trying to accomplish building a disaster recovery site with all Virtual servers to reduce cost of hardware. But in order to have a valid back-up, the current server should be the same (VM Ware and not physical).
If you have an issue, it would need to be reproduced in a non-virtual environment. Servers are so cheap today. My first business PC was from IBM, had 256k of RAM, two 5.25" floppies and a green screen. Added an AST card to give me a clock, 640k of RAM and a another serial port. Cost us just over $5k US.
