New Magix system with new Mer Messaging.
...we followed instructions on setting up "delayed call handling", but we musta missed something. Unanswered incomming calls are going to ext.11 voice mail box instead of A. A., ext 10 & 11 are the only extensions that ring on incomming calls. Could ext.11 vms cover be taking over the call? and would it help if I made 11 a console (10 is currently only console). Delayed call handling AA answer set to 20 secs., extension's vms coverage at default 3 rings.

Gawd this makes me love Partners.

Key or PBX mode?

"Normal" way is to assign the Lines (or pools) to an unused calling group, make that group overflow to voice mail, and make a mailbox matching the calling group point to the auto attendant.

Hi tommy,
Hybrid mode. lines assigned toa phantom (unused)calling group , overflow to vm calling group, but I didn't point a mailbox to auto attendant.
Don't recall having to do that before, but then I haven't had to install a magix in two years or more.

You need to create an autoattendant-type mailbox for the overflow group in voicemail admin. You also need to attach the phone lines to be covered by voicemail to that same overflow voicemail overflow group. Both of the above items need to be done for this to work correctly.

thanks td
the lines are attached to the overflow group (791).
I thought the overflow just went from 791 to VM group (770).
So I should instead give 791 a mailbox and make it an AA mailbox?

Yes, not "instead" but in addition to - in voicemail admin create an autoattendant 1 type mailbox for ext 791.

ok, set mailbox 791 as AA ext ("has no phone"). called in... same problem.
I missed something else somewhere.

Make it "have a phone". I assume 770 is setup correctly with all voicemail ports as members, linear hunt, Integrated Voicemail type. AND that you have rotary enabled all of the voicemail ports.

Also for you overflow group (791) make sure that number-based overflow is set at 99; time-based set at the 20 seconds you indicated.

AHA! I found it!
I had assigned the lines to the delayed call handling group (791)instead of assigning pool 70. (i'm in hybrid). Changed that and now calls are going to AA.
Are you sure the mail box(791) should be "has a phone"? would that change the time calls ring before going to AA? that would only take a second to change
thanks for all the help

I'm kinda glad Magix is discontinued. We've only sold 3 in 6 years. Doesn't give me enough practice programming them.
Have you heard what might be next for systems requiring more than 48 extensions? (other than IP Office)
Thanks again.

It's not necessary. I am not even sure it would make a difference. It does when you have regular group mailboxes that have a message reciever. If you designate "no phone" - the message light at the msg receiver extention will never turn on/off.

Magix, and even Legend, will be around for a very long time - even though no longer supported - as long as we don't run out of parts. Avaya has nothing other than VOIP - all their eggs in that one basket for smaller systems.

Thats what I was afraid of.
I wish they'd expand the partner to 60-80 extensions and give it flexible numbering I could a lot more of them & help people avoid the Japanese makes.

Trust me - there will be plenty of parts to last a long, long time. Parts are still readily available for systems that are 30+ years old - and there are a number of shops that specialize in repairs of existing parts.
