Mer mail Rls 13 1

Hello all, have a quick question and a big problem but isn't that the story all the time....
Got a mil rls 13, with a bad hard drive, took a HD from another mail in stock, tried duing a reload from back up, to my surprise the back up is no good... bottom line i got no back up and need to install this as new, I entered tha install tape to get going, and the mail got stuck at system configutration is not letting me go forward, did I miss something was I supposed to format th HD before staring istall, any help is appreciated,

no the security dongle may not match the keycodes. if yo haven't played with those, it looks like a large watch battery on the same card as the hd. the install tape formats the drive. a full backup from the same system will format the drive if the dongle matches

Thanks John, I forgot to say it was an OPT 11 and I looked all over for the donggle, I can't seem to find it....
when I put in the install tape I get the 3 Options, press one for ne MM13 install since I don't have a good back up,the mail starts to load and at the system configuration screen a get a row of parameters and a column with old system and new system and thats as far as it got.
I was never prompted to input key codes.... I left it there for about 2 hrs and I saw no progress.... any ideas? anyone...Tahnk you...

I'm telling you I've been thru every inch of that mail and I dont see a dongle anywhere, this is an old system not the newer one card option...

Hi Ricoa01,

I've had the same problem... the install seems to be going ok then the system freezes just before it asks you for keycodes, I changed the installation tape and this solved the problem. I then checked the tape be trying to install mail at the tests labs on a different system and it froze at the same point. Hope that helps

The only time I've seen RLS 13 is on the 1 card option, but I've never upgraded from an earlier rlease up to 13.

Make sure the AML link is enabled on the PBX. See LD 48 for the exact command. It is likely ENL AML X ACMS. During the bootup process at the point were the MerMail boot process screen states "Fox Security Check" card option Meridian Mail systems complete a security check by verifing the system Security/AUX ID number of the host PBX. At this point if the AML link is not properly enabled the MerMail boot process stops.

None of the Meridian Mail systems have security dongles.

Thanks all that was the problem I did not enable the aml link as soon as I did that the install continued without a hitch.....all the help id appresiated all... have a great day...
