When I open up Illustrator (on a Mac), I get a strange set of menus. For example, instead of a Edit menu, I get the following; $$$/_MBAR/Mnu/Edit.

Everything still works, it just seems to be the menu is displaying some sort of coding.

I have deleted the prefs, but that did not fix the problem.

Anybody have any ideas of what is going on?

If you like, I can send a screenshot of what I am talking about.

Thanks in Advance,

Kevin

Try quitting AI and go to user/library/preferences/Adobe Illustrator settings and trash Adobe Illustrator Prefs.

Then go back to the main user prefs folder and trash "com.adobe.illustrator.plist"

Then start AI and check. If still a no go, trash the AI application folder, the whole settings folder and the "com.adobe illustrator --" and reload AI.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

jmgalvin,

Thanks for the tips, but it didn't work. Looks like I'll have to trash and reload the apps.
