If the 9700 is anything like the 2700, 3700 series of Micros POS you will need to create the SLU button on the touchscreen that links to the SLU #'s. IE: You have menu items that have a SLU# of 1, somewhere in the touchscreen programming you have a button on the screen that has a function code of 0130. A button coded 0130 will "pull up" any menu item that has a SLU# of 1.
If you have added new menu items with new SLU #'s, you just need to know what button code to use to pull them up on the screen and how to place that button on the screen in question.
If you got books with your system you should have a "keyboard chart" that details all of the available button and/or keycodes for the 9700 system.
You could also compare existing SLU #'s and their corresponding buttons to determine a logical guess. IE: If you currently use SLU #'s 1-2-3-4 etc and their button codes are 0130, 0131, 0132, 0133, you could guess that SLU #5 has a SLU button code of 0134.
Best practices: you should create a copy of all existing SLU #'s and their menu association. IE: SLU #12 is Desserts,
#8 is sandwiches, etc. I don't know how many SLU #'s the 9700 has... it might be unlimited.
If you can't determine the button codes, call your local Micros dealer, I'm sure they could fax you a copy of all the codes you need.
AS far as putting the buttons on the corresponding screens, for that I suggest calling the dealer as there are many ways to program Micros touchscreens and knowing how it was originally set up is huge. Hopefully you are familiar with that aspect already.
