I have a server running windows 2000 advanced, Arcserve 2000 manager. The server is backing up 5 remote servers.(about 70gb of data). How much memory should i use in the server and why?

Hi
Based of CA documentation 256MB is enough to run Arcserve BUT if there are other applications running on backup server other than ARCserve then you need to put this in your consideration ,since the less memory you have will fore the OS to use paging to handle the memory requirement...
By the way the more memory you add to the server will be better.

I have just set up our new Arcserve only server for backups.

It backs up 27 servers.

The spec's are

Compaq DL 390

Xeon 2.8 GHz

2 Gb RAM

And two 36Gb of HDD in a mirror.

OS Win 2000 + patches ARCSerev 2000 with more patches than the lord has sheep :)

Works a treat

Hope this helps.
