i have recently bought myself a new 256mb stick of PC2100 DDR Ram to add to the 256mb already in my computer. when installed and i boot up the comp still says i have 256mb installed.
i have tested both sticks and they work fine on their own but they will not work when in together

What happens if you try putting one RAM stick in the 2nd memory slot? Seems likely that your mobo has a bad memory slot.

i have tried all the memory slots seperately they just wont work together (i have even tried 1 in slot 1 1 in slot 3)

no they are not the same brand not even the same sixe if that helps at all

It doesn't matter so much if they are the same brand (most brands co-operate), more important, are they the same type (ie ECC, non-ECC, Registered, Unbuffered, etc). If they're not the same type, then they will never work together in the same machine.

That's why it's very important to know exactly which RAM to get to upgrade your PC.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
