I have an NEC 2000 IPS with Dterm Series i phones. One of my users swapped out her eight button phone with a 32 button phone. I need to assign her a vacant memory space. I copied my phone when I set up her extension but apparently copied the memory space by accident. She reprogramed all my speed dial buttons when she re-did hers. How do I find what space I can use in Matworx? I see where I can assign it in the Station Assignment.

Thanks

Melanie

Unfortunatley you cannot.
I am guessing you are talking about one touch memory assignment which is assigned in CM 94.
Best bet would be to go to CM 94 of the Dterm with the highest station number and post here the assignment. Also collect the one touch memory assignment for the highest numbered 32 button set.

Be careful as the same memory areas are also used in Cmd 73 so you have to check both to be sure you don't get any clashes.

what is command 73? To answer a previous post the highest 32 utton was assigned a starting slot of 22 so I assigned the extension 24 which was empty. Most of my users have either an eight button or 16 button phone. Hardly any use the unassigned buttons even though they have the directions in front of them ( on the back of the extension list I put FAQs and directions for them plus every other week I send out an email with a did you know...phone tip). I am slowing learning the programming beyond the Matworx basics thanks to this forum.

The 32 button phones by default is a 16 buttons of line/apperances keys (Keys 1 through 16) and 16 keys of DSS/BLF (Keys 17 through 32). Assigning One-Touch keys in CMD 90 YY=00 to F11XX uses the memory assigned by CMD 73. In order to get the DSS/BLF keys to accept speed dial memory must be assigned with CMD 94. If these memory are the same then the One-Touch keys and the DSS/BLF are one and the same.

On a different note, to change to a 24 buttons of line/apperances keys (Keys 1 through 24) and 8 keys of DSS/BLF (Keys 25 through 32), change CMD 12 YY=24 to a 0.

Cmd 73 is normally used to assign memory dials to analogue phones. however the same memory locations are used to assign memories to Dterms (Cmd 94) the danger being that the same area is assigned to two phones because of the crossover.

Thanks, even though that doesn't make much sense to me as I do all my simple programming via MOC. I am a visual person and I need to see what I had. I followed VDG's suggestion and changed it to a 24 button of line and appearance but apparently the memory space I assigned was already in use. How can I use MOC and assign a blank space?

in moc mode the only way is to laboriously step through until you find some free space.

just a thought. If you cant list these up simply start at the lowest extn number and rapidly step through all extns using the enter key. you can then highlight this data and copy and paste it into a text document. This can then be imported to excel and manipulated as needed.

There is a way to create a custom list up using the mach script editor but that would take a lot of instruction on my part. You could have a look here

You would substitute cmd 1212 for cmd 73 and then 94 and you wouldn't put anything in the c column. When you run the script it will warn you that the programming will be modified but because there is nothing in column c it just returns the value currently there.

Actually my second post on this topic tells you how to do a custom list up.

Remember though if you are doing anything new to you or are unsure of, Back the system up before starting.

Thanks OzzieGeorge, I followed your advice to start at the lowest and head up. Then copied and pasted into excel and did a sort. I got the highest assigned and then assigned the dterm to the next in the loop. Of course I got ERROR of extensions that didn't exist and NONE for a few that need assignment. This was good to know. I just assumed that when you created a new extension that all this was done automatically.
Now I have a list that I can edit when I add extensions. I only use analog phones for courtesy phones and fax machines and none of them use memory buttons.

Just out of interest if anyone else needs to do this and is unsure of the lowest extn number, you can start at a known number and work down by using the - key (the one next to 0 on the keyboard).
