I have developed a Access database for reports within a college.
The database consists of several forms, tables reports etc.

It works fine but on some computers after using a data entry form to enter a few records the computer runs out of memory and the program hangs.

The only cure is to restart the computer. It is a similar problem caused by the Nimda virus last year. The computers in question have lots of memory and in some cases more memory then computers not affected. I have run a virus check and found no problems?

Hope you can help

When you say that the computer runs out of memory what exactly do you mean...Error information presented? RAM memory or harddrive space runs out or both? Is windows controlling the memory management (SWAP) or do you have it manually set. Is this problem only with this database application, all Access 2000 applications, or do other programs such as Word or Excel exhibit a similar problem on this computer? Is the Access 2000 application on the same logical drive as Windows? When running before the comp hangs which process is eating up all the memory when viewed from the task manager? Windows OS? Slighthaze = NULL

Hi,

Access slows down to the extent that you are unable to scrole, enter new records and the screen does not refresh. It only happens in Access. If you check the memory properties it starts a 90 percent and drops to about 40 percent on the computers with problems. It happens on computers running 98 and 2000 os.
