Tried new memory on a pc and it booted fine. Then put the old one on too and now it won't boot at all. Motherboard has it's own diagnostic light in back of it...I removed both memory from the slot put the old one back on, there are no lights. Went to manual and there is nothing there for no lights lit. And when i put the new one in, says not compatible. The computer booted fine before i put both on together...The mother board is an intel D815EEA. If I can't boot I get error when using this tester I think the error is 3 Beeps: Base 64K RAM failure and the other was moved block or something like that.

I cxan only suggest you re-set the bios and put back the ram you started with. Your system just doesnt like this ram together for some reason, which is fairly common. Could be a number of reasons for that.

Or, you can go into bios and set it at the "minimum" or "default" or "standard", whatever your bios refers to the minimum settings. Still i would do that with only the original ram.

Is this sdram, ddram, or rambus? I know the intel 820 chipset uses rdram (rambus), not sure on the 815, i think its sdram?

(sdram) how do you reset the bios to default. I'm not a good hardware technician. Just a windows one. LOL I cleared the CMOS if that's what you meant.

Thats what i meant. We tend to use the words bios and cmos as the same. Just to make sure though, did you read the manual on how to clear the cmos as it varies from one bios to another, one motherboard to another? That is, if you have a manual.

As for default setting in the cmos, you should see that when you first go into the cmos(bios). The very first page, usually over on the right near the bottom. It differs but you will see something like, best performance or high performance and then a setting or button for default or standard, or some such wording, it varies. But the most common way is to use the "del" button on bootup and that gets you to the first cmos or bios page, thats where you will find the setting i am talking about.

Are you able to boot into windows yet?
