Is it possible for an old PC to send the incorrect data or part of the data packet and force a printer to try to print it, thus causing printer errors? I have the most current PCL5 driver for the Laserjet 5, a good NIC with an updated driver, good RAM in the PC. The problem happens only on this one PC across the LAN. I can print fine to the LJ5 from any other machine on the network. When I try to print a 14.5 kb excel file, the printer will tell me insuficient memory press go Error 20. Then it prints and skips only certain letters. I can change the font and reproduce the error in a different manner. Does this old Pentium box not understand how to send PCL5 formatting? I need major help.
