I am hoping someone out there can give me some direction. I am trying to hunt down a memory leak on a Server running Windows 2003 Server SP 2. I have Googled the problem and I have tried some of the suggestions but they are not specific enough in detail to lead you to a solution. I tried adding more memory but that only prolonged the occurence of the problem. I run out of memory and have to reboot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Uh, have you used task manager to see what is using the memory? Look on the processes tab.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

markdmac is right check your Task manager for what process are eating your memory.
A better tool will be process manager. This will give you in depth what process is using how much memeory, what services are running under that process, if there is service depending on that process has stopped repsonding leading to memory not release by that process. And manny other things.

Thanks markdmac for the feedback. I've looked at Task Manager but there are alot of processes using memory. Not being a windows heavy its hard to identify the offender. What do I look for?

Thanks r8j8t for your feedback. I'll Google that and see what comes back.

I recommend you sort by highest memory usage. Take a snapshot and compare the next day. You might not know what is normal for a process, but through comparison you can see what is growing in its usage.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
